Dawn Martin, Principal
Dawn Martin is President and founder of Martin and Laguna. She provides mediation, training, facilitation, and other related services to families, schools, businesses, non-profit organizations and public sector institutions.
In addition to mediating interpersonal and organizational disputes, Ms. Martin facilitates mediation policy and program planning initiatives and supports the implementation of local, state and national mediation programs in the United States, Latin America and Africa. She has trained extensively in the areas of mediation, advocacy in mediation, interest-based bargaining, mediation program design, peer (school) mediation, the pedagogy of mediation training, and other related fields.
Prior to establishing her private mediation practice, Ms. Martin practiced law (1986 - 1995) and served as a mediation specialist with the District of Columbia Mediation Service (1979 - 1984). She received her law degree from the Catholic University of America. She speaks Spanish fluently.
Francisco Laguna, Principal
Francisco Laguna provides consulting services to corporations and law firms in the areas of international dispute resolution, litigation, global trademark registrations, government relations and translations. Prior to launching his mediation and international consulting practice, Mr. Laguna was in private law practice for nine years (1986 - 1995).
A Certified Divorce Financial Analyst, Mr. Laguna assists separating and divorcing clients in determining the tax consequences of property transfers; the calculation of appropriate levels of alimony and child support payments; and other financial matters.
Mr. Laguna received his law degree from the University of Arizona College of Law (joint program with Georgetown University). He speaks Spanish, Italian and German fluently.
Melinda Ostermeyer
Melinda Ostermeyer has over 20 years of experience in dispute resolution. She provides conflict management, executive coaching and assessment services to individuals and organizations; facilitates strategic planning processes; and trains professionals in negotiation, mediation and other collaborative techniques.
She designs and implements conflict management systems and has led mediation initiatives for judicial systems in more than a dozen countries.
Ms. Ostermeyer directed two nationally recognized dispute resolution programs in the United States: The Multi-Door Dispute Resolution Division of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia and the Dispute Resolution Center of Houston, Texas. She has taught classes in mediation and negotiation at American University, George Washington University and the University of South Carolina.
She received her MS in Organization Development from Johns Hopkins University and her Coaching Certificate from Georgetown University.
